Soon enough, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana introduced her ace bowler Asha Sobhana, who provided the breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Shafali Verma, who had smashed 3 fours and 1 maximum to score 23 runs in 18 balls. In the very next over, Shreyanka Patil was brought in, and she dismissed the DC captain, who departed for 29 runs.
After the strategic timeout, RCB got the desired wicket with Asha Sobhana's reintroduction. It was a tossed-up delivery outside off, and Shafali attempted to go big. She swung hard and ended up slicing it towards point, where Sophie Molineux stationed herself and took a safe catch, breaking the partnership.
Soon after Shafali's departure, it was time for the other opener to follow. This delivery was on the shorter side, pitching on leg, and Lanning got beaten as she tried to drag it through the leg side. The DC captain went for a review, but nothing showed on the UltraEdge. With no bat involved, Lanning walked back for 29 runs in 26 balls, having smashed 5 fours.
