WPL 2024 opening ceremony - Fans go crazy as Shah Rukh Khan joins star-studded line-up to perform in Bengaluru

Just a day before the start of the 2nd edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL), on February 23, the social media handles of the tournament surprised fans by announcing that the 'Badshah of Bollywood' Shah Rukh Khan has joined a star-studded list of performers for the opening ceremony of the tournament, which will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The tournament's opening ceremony is also set to feature numerous Bollywood actors, namely Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan, Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, and Shahid Kapoor.

Shortly after the post was made, fans commented on it, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying it is surely bigger and better than the previous edition. The first edition featured Kiara Advani dancing to her popular numbers and Kriti Sanon and singer AP Dhillon added to the spectacle.

Some even hoped to see a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) women's team soon in the WPL.

About the WPL 2024:

The opening ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM IST, followed by the opening match of the tournament. Mumbai Indians (MI), led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will take on Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals (DC). The two teams were finalists in the 1st edition.

The initial phase of matches will be held at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, with subsequent games scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The WPL will feature a total of 22 games, including the regular season, one eliminator, and the final match. The tournament's climax is set for March 17 in New Delhi.

Indian fans can tune in to the WPL 2024 opening ceremony on Sports18 and Sports18 Khel channels. Additionally, viewers can stream the event on the Jio Cinema app and website.
