In the opening match of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023, New Zealand, despite missing their main batter and captain Kane Williamson, put up a strong fight against defending champions England. The game took place at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the Kiwis, after choosing to bowl first, managed to restrict the Three Lions to 282 runs while taking 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. One of the bowlers was the young talent Rachin Ravindra, who claimed the wicket of Harry Brook.

However, what caught everyone's attention was Ravindra's performance with the bat. The 23-year-old came in at the No. 3 spot and played some remarkable shots all around the park. He partnered effectively with Devon Conway to build a strong partnership. In the 11th over, Ravindra reached his fifty in style, smashing a six off the fifth ball. It was an impressive 36-ball fifty in his debut World Cup appearance. He got to his 100 in 82 balls in which he smashed 4 sixes and 9 fours.

Born on November 18, 1999, in Wellington, New Zealand, Rachin's father, a skilled software engineer, originally hails from Bengaluru, India. In the 1990s, Rachin's father decided to relocate from Bengaluru to New Zealand in pursuit of new opportunities.

From a young age, Rachin displayed exceptional cricketing talent and he earned a spot in New Zealand's U19 squad. His outstanding performances in domestic cricket further propelled him into the national team.

Rachin has played in three Test matches, 12 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 18 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) throughout his career. His contributions include scoring 72 runs in Test matches, 189 runs in ODIs, and 145 runs in T20Is.
