US Open 2024: World No 1 Iga Swiatek is the only former US Open champion in the final 8 of the tournament, after Coco Gauff’s title defence failed in the Round of 16.
It’s the second week of the last Grand Slam major of the year, with the final 8 in the women’s singles category all set to take court for a shot at glory. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who has won the US Open in 2022, will fancy a shot at taking the trophy home. Also eyeing a win at Flushing Meadows are Paula Badosa, Aryna Sabalenka (2023 runner-up), Emma Navarro, Qinwen Zheng, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Karolina Muchova and Jessica Pegula.
US Open 2024: When and where to watch final Grand Slam of the year
The official broadcast partner of the US Open 2024 in India is Sony Sports, with live streaming available on SonyLIV. The quarter-final matches are being played on Centre Court at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which has a retractable roof and lights, so there will be no disruptions owing to inclement weather. The women's singles final of the US Open will be held on September 7 (September 8 in India, owing to time zone variance).
Kicking off the action in the Round of 8 at the 2024 edition of the US Open are Paula Badosa and Emma Navarro, who will be in action at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at 9.30 pm on September 3 (IST). This is Badosa’s first time in the US Open quarter-final stage and second ever at a Grand Slam major. Navarro is also a first-timer at this stage of the tournament.
At 4.30 am on September 4, last year’s runner-up Aryna Sabalenka will take on Qinwen Zheng. The duo had played each other in the quarter-final a year ago, with Sabalenka emerging triumphant. The schedule for the other two quarter-finals is yet to be decided, with Swiatek playing Pegula, whom she had defeated in the 2022 quarter-final, enroute to winning the tournament. Karolina Muchova, who lost in last year’s semi-final to eventual champion Coco Gauff, will play Haddad Maia, who has never before made it past the second round at the US Open.
