Any game featuring Gautam Gambhir, quite apparently, isn't devoid of drama and intensity and when the former Indian batter had to clash with an equally fervent Sreesanth on the field, one could definitely expect the contest to be no ordinary one.

The two were embroiled in a heated exchange or a "spat", as it were, during the India Capitals vs Gujarat Giants game on Wednesday, 6th December which has now hit the headlines. It all potentially was kicked off when Sreesanth was a couple of boundaries by Capitals' skipper Gautam Gambhir and a stare-down, reportedly, soon made way for an exchange of words.

Sreesanth would first share a video message following the game to allege that Gambhir does not even "respect his own senior players, including Viru Bhai, adding that the latter was quite rude to him during the said eliminator clash in the Legends League Cricket tournament.

Post that, he posted another video message to clear the air and to disclose to his fans and followers what exactly Gautam Gambhir said to him. In the new video, the fast bowler claims that Gambhir called him a "fixer":

"He kept on calling me, on live television, on the centre of the wicket - I have not used a single bad word, I have not used a single abusive word to him. I have only said, 'What are you saying? What are you saying?' In fact, I kept laughing in a sarcastic way because he kept calling me 'Fixer, fixer, you are a fixer, f*ck off fixer' - This is the language that was used," said Sreesanth in the video message.

Sreesanth was, of course, accused of spot-fixing in 2013 during the sixth season of the Indian Premier League. Initially, he and a couple of others indicted in the case faced a life ban from the BCCI but the pacer was then acquitted in 2015. However, the life ban would be restored in 2017 until the BCCI was asked to reconsider the punishment in 2019 by the apex court of India - the ban was then shortened to 7 years following which he made a comeback to cricket in 2021.
