After the deepfake scare involving his daughter Sara Tendulkar, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has now become entangled in the realm of fake videos making the rounds on social media. The 'Master Blaster' recently took to his social media accounts to unveil a deepfake video of him endorsing a gaming app.

In this fabricated video, the retired cricketer is seen discussing a gaming app designed to gain money. Once the video circulated on social platforms, Sachin noticed it and took to 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to share and express his thoughts.

He said, "These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes".

Sara Tendulkar's deepfake scare

Via her Instagram story, Sara stated that impostors were using her identity on 'X' (previously Twitter). She emphasised that she doesn't maintain an account on that particular social media platform. Furthermore, she also conveyed apprehension about encountering 'deepfake' images of herself circulating across various social media platforms.

In a detailed post, Sara tagged Twitter on her Instagram story and wrote: "Social media is a wonderful space for all of us to share our joys, sorrows and daily activities. However, it is disconcerting to see the misuse of technology as it takes away from the truth and authenticity of the internet. I have come across some deepfake photos of me which are far from reality".

The rise in deepfake incidents has become a worrisome problem, impacting not only the general public but also causing distress for Indian celebrities. The deepfake incidents came to light after a video featuring Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandana triggered a significant uproar on various social media platforms.
