The suspension was given three days after the conclusion of the ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the India women's cricket team captain, has been handed a two-match suspension by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct during the series decider in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The suspension was given three days after the conclusion of the ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
In the third match of the ICC Women's Championship series against Bangladesh, Harmanpreet was penalized for two separate breaches. First, she displayed frustration by smashing the stumps after being dismissed, resulting in a Level 2 offence. For this, she received a fine of 50 per cent of her match fee and three demerit points.
Later, she publicly criticized the match official, questioning the standard of umpiring, leading to a Level 1 offence. For this, she was fined 25 per cent of her match fee and was awarded one demerit point.
BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, broke the silence on the matter on Thursday and clarified that the board will not appeal for revocation or relaxation of Harmanpreet's ban as the time for appeal has lapsed.
To address the situation, the BCCI has appointed BCCI president Roger Binny and NCA head VVS Laxman to counsel Harmanpreet in the coming days. This decision aims to guide and mentor the temperamental player, ensuring she learns from her actions and makes improvements.

Due to the two-match suspension, Harmanpreet will miss the quarterfinal and semifinal matches at the 2023 Asian Games. However, she will have the opportunity to bounce back and make a significant impact for India if the team advances to the finals, with the potential to secure the elusive gold medal in her absence.
