Rishabh Pant has been out of action for almost a year following a near-fatal car crash in December 2022. Having sustained multiple injuries, the wicketkeeper-batsman then underwent surgery in his right knee in Mumbai and has since then been on the road to recovery. However, his fans finally have a cause to celebrate because the latest reports inform us that Rishabh Pant is now poised to make a grand comeback.
As reported by Cricbuzz, the southpaw currently looks well on course to participate in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League, which is expected to take off at the end of March. Rishabh Pant has been the mainstay of the Delhi Capitals for multiple seasons and the franchise's management very recently shared that upon returning, he will be leading the team as well.

However, his comeback carries a caveat. The officials from the Delhi Capitals have suggested that while he will be available to bat, it is possible that he may still not be fully ready to keep wickets. The latter, we hear, will be contingent on BCCI's approval but regardless, he should be able to focus on batting, fielding and also captaincy once he rejoins the Capitals.
This would also mean that his reinstatement in the Indian Test squad will only come at a later point, mainly depending on his performance and endurance during IPL 2024. Indian men's team is next scheduled to play the crucial Test series against England at home, with the tour on January 25th. Rishabh Pant's last international appearance was in the India - Bangladesh test match in Mirpur on December 22.
