In the video, the evidently gutted fan tears into the management for their bizarre and inexplicable tactics, which ultimately resulted in RCB's exit from IPL 2023
The Royal Challengers Bangalore's crushing exit from IPL 2023 is likely to be remembered for a very long time for multiple reasons. For starters, the final group stage 'must-win' game against the Gujarat Titans had the talismanic Virat Kohli rise to the occasion as hoped and belt out a hundred of pure quintessence - the knock had Kohli's intent, intensity, class and tenacity written all over it. And yet, in what can be termed a nontraditional turn of events, the master batter could not fetch a win for his team with his contribution.
But a bigger kick in the gut for RCB fans, quite perhaps, came in the form of an excruciating home defeat as Titans' royalty Shubman Gill shimmied his team to victory in a manner that only he could. Gill not only scored a hundred but bettered his Indian batting mate's strike rate and secured both the winning runs and his personal landmark with a swat-a-fly-like six on the leg side. That too off a free hit of Harshal Patel's bowling.
The huge legion of fans of the Royal Challengers was visibly and obviously gutted with the result and for the 16th time in a row, their fandom was deflated by the prick of their favourite team's inability to win the coveted IPL trophy. The entire cricketing world is privy to the fact that RCB fans carry their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to the team. But when the same team is revealed to be lacklustre almost every single time, their ardency ends up being taken for granted. And the same sentiments of a heartbroken RCB fan have now gone viral on social media as he spills his soul out about his team's recent exit from IPL 2023 - from the inexplicable selection process to the outrageous management errors and everything in between, the fan speaks for a million other RCB supporters in a most unfiltered manner.
The fan, who is believably a Bengaluru resident, is seen sporting the latest RCB jersey as he speaks to a representative of the site cricket.com. And what better location than the streets of the IT Capital as he tears into the team management and questions its bizarre tactics to pick a side with a terribly weak & inexperienced middle-order. "Where are the Indian batsmen? Virat Kohli has 7000 runs but where is the next Indian batter? No one. How do you expect to win?" he says at one point, before going on to propose to dissolve the management and hand the team over to the people who care the most - the fans.
"We'll build a team. If you want funds, we'll raise 10x the amount that they (management) could. Don't give us 15-16 years, give us five years. If we still don't win the cup, then question us. If you put on a huge show before the season like the RCB Unbox event, there must also be a season review once it's all over," he adds.
