At Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, a challenging pitch made it far from easy for the Australian team as they were bowled out for 199 in the 5th Match of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023. Opting to bat first, the visitors struggled to gain momentum from the start, losing Mitch Marsh early in the innings. Despite David Warner and Steve Smith's efforts to rebuild, India gained a crucial breakthrough after Warner's dismissal.

The spinners then took control of the match, with Ravindra Jadeja delivering a brilliant delivery to dismiss Smith, triggering a downfall for Australia. Their score slipped from 110/2 to 140/7, and the situation appeared bleak with over 13 overs remaining. Nevertheless, the Australian lower order managed to push the total to 199.

Jadeja secured three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah claimed two each. Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya also contributed with one wicket each. While the bowlers received acclaim, fans turned to social media to applaud the exceptional fielding displayed by the Men in Blue.

Virat Kohli's sensational slip catch and Shreyas Iyer's high-flying catch, which concluded Australia's innings, garnered praise from cricket enthusiasts.

On the Australian side, Steve Smith emerged as the top run-scorer, accumulating 46 runs, while David Warner (41), Marnus Labuschagne (27), and Mitchell Starc (28) attempted to boost the scoreboard but faced challenges in doing so.
