The eighth calendar event of the 2024 F1 season heads to Monaco this weekend. The 10 teams, with 2 drivers each, will be at the Circuit De Monaco, widely considered one of the sport’s most famous, given that it is a street circuit of 3.337 km with 19 bends, that the drivers navigate for 78 laps for a total of 260.286 km.

The race will be held on May 26 at 6.30 pm (IST), with the practice sessions and Qualifying slated for May 24 and 25. All the sessions can be streamed live on FanCode with OTTplay Premium. What makes the Monaco Grand Prix challenging, is that the narrow streets offer very few passing opportunities, with the driver in pole position most likely to finish it first. Currently Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the fastest lap in Monaco.

3-time Drivers’ champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing, who is looking for a 4thconsecutive season championship and a 7th podium finish in 2024, has won the won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2021 and 2023. In the 7 races of the season so far, he was on pole position in all 7, won 5, stood second in 1 and retired from another. With 161 points to his credit, Max is way ahead of Charles Leclerc with 113 points. Close on Leclerc’s heels is Max’s teammate Sergio Perez at 107. Verstappen and Perez have given Red Bull Racing (268) a massive lead over Ferrari (212).

The 2024 F1 season will have a total of 24 races, including the Chinese Grand Prix, which had been cancelled since 2019, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It began in Bahrain in February, followed by Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan, China, Miami and Italy, with Monaco next in line. The season will end in December in Abu Dhabi.
