The unfolding drama in the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp shows no signs of slowing down, with recent reports hinting that newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya might sit out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to an ankle injury.
This fresh setback for MI emerged after the all-rounder was traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to Mumbai Indians (MI) in an all-cash deal. He was subsequently named captain, taking over from Rohit Sharma.

According to various news sources, Hardik is set to miss the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, and his participation in the forthcoming IPL season remains uncertain. The all-rounder has been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. If confirmed, this development could prove to be a significant setback for both Team India and MI.
Following the news, Rohit Sharma fans, who have been vocal since the 'Hitman' was replaced as skipper, took to social media platforms, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to initiate a meme fest, trolling the all-rounder.
Regarding Pandya's recent history, he was absent from the recently concluded white-ball leg of the South Africa tour and the T20I series against Australia. In his absence, Suryakumar led India to a 4-1 series win over Australia, while the T20I series concluded in a draw.
He had previously played seven seasons for MI in the IPL before being released ahead of the 2022 season. Upon joining GT, he led the team to consecutive IPL finals, clinching the trophy in their debut season.
