On Day 10 of the Italian Open 2024 in Rome, it’s time for the round of 4 – the semi-finals – in the women’s singles draw. On May 14, top seed Iga Swiatek was the first to book a semis spot after making quick work of Madison Keys (6-1 6-3). Two-time Italian Open champ is widely considered the hot favourite to win this clay court ATP tournament on May 18.

IGA SWIATEK VS COCO GAUFF: MAY 16, 6.30 pm

However, standing in the way of a third title is Coco Gauff, whom Swiatek will play today in the first semi-final on centre court. The odds, though, are heavily in favour of Swiatek, as she has dominated their earlier head-to-head encounters. Swiatek and Gauff have played each other 10 times and the Pole has won a whopping 9 times. In the Italian Open 2024, Swiatek is yet to drop a set and is expected to continue that streak against Gauff. The Iga Swiatek vs Coco Gauff semi-final is at 6.30 pm on May 16 and can be live streamed on SonyLIV, the streaming partner of the Italian Open in India.

ARYNA SABALENKA VS DANIELLE COLLINS: MAY 17, 12 am

In the second semi-final, which will be held at 12 am on May 17 (IST), Danielle Collins will play Aryna Sabalenka. The duo has played each other 5 times so far, with Sabalenka winning each time, including during their most recent fourth round match in Madrid. Sabalenka is the clear favourite to advance to the final and play Swiatek on May 18. However, given Collins’ form in the tournament, winning all her matches in straight sets, a cracker of a match could be at hand after all.

Meanwhile, the men’s singles schedule on May 16, includes two quarter-final matches. At 4.30 pm, Hubert Hurkacz will play Tommy Paul and at 10.30 pm, Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on Nicolas Jarry. Alexander Zverev and Alejandro Tabilo have already made their way to the semis, after wins over Taylor Fritz and Zhang Zhizhen, respectively.
