The 2024 Italian Open is the first in two decades to feature neither 10-time champ Rafael Nadal or 6-time winner Novak Djokovic. Nadal’s just back after a long injury break, while Djokovic has had a less than stellar start to the 2024 season. Both are, however, expected to head to Roland Garros shortly for the second Grand Slam of the year, the French Open.

Although Djokovic has more Grand Slam wins than Nadal (24-22), the latter, has won the clay-court tournament a whopping 14 times. Despite his recent lack of form and injury, Nadal is quite gung-ho about returning to his favourite surface. But can he win it a 15th time. Well, he’s ready to give it his all.
