Match 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win again at their fortress - the MA Chidambaram Stadium - against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 8. While this was KKR's first loss this season, CSK has now secured three wins from three matches at home.

With this, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are the only team so far to win all their games and sit at the top of the points table. Despite the loss, KKR still holds the second position with three wins and one loss, while Chennai continues to occupy the 4th spot with three wins and two losses.

With 17 maximums, Heinrich Klaasen takes the top spot while his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammate Abhishek Sharma sits in the 2nd. Nicholas Pooran is on the 3rd while DC's Tristan Stubbs takes the 4th. The 5th spot is occupied by KKR's Sunil Narine.
After the clash between CSK vs KKR, Mustafizur Rahman, who took two wickets, received the purple cap on April 8 for scalping 9 wickets in 4 games. He is followed by RR's Yuzvendra Chahal in the 2nd and DC's Khaleel Ahmed in the 3rd position. The 4th and 5th position is taken by GT's Mohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians' (MI) Gerald Coetzee.
The two teams to face each other on April 9 will be Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. While SRH are in the 5th spot, PBKS are a level below in the 6th position on the points table.
