Even Sunil Gavaskar was left astounded, exclaiming, "The man!" seeing MS Dhoni's dive.
'Will retire this year, will retire next year' - is a discussion that arises every year at the beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL) involving MS Dhoni. Now, in the 17th edition of the IPL, Dhoni has once again demonstrated to everyone that he still has plenty of cricket left in him to play.

In Match 7 of the IPL between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Dhoni captivated the Chepauk crowd with a sensational, age-defying catch that has left fans stunned. It was such an outstanding catch to dismiss GT batter Vijay Shankar that sparked the viral trend 'he is 42' on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Even Sunil Gavaskar was left astounded, exclaiming, "The man!" While it may have seemed like a routine catch for Dhoni, what made it remarkable was that the CSK legend executed the diving effort despite having recovered from an injury just a few months prior.
In 2023, shortly after the tournament final on May 29, Dhoni underwent knee surgery and spent the remainder of the year recovering.
The match between the defending champions and the finalists saw CSK claim an easy win at their fortress, the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK first posted a mammoth total of 206 runs and then defended it with ease, securing a significant victory over GT by a margin of 63 runs.
