Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their trend of inducing stress among their fans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, losing their top order - Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell - within the Powerplay against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The trio fell victim to the LSG bowlers in a span of just 5 balls and later Cameron Green too followed.

M. Siddharth initiated RCB's downfall by dismissing the aggressive Kohli. The batter, who has been pivotal for RCB this season, was enticed into playing a big shot by the slower delivery, only to find the outside edge which landed in the hands of backward point fielder Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli departed after scoring 22 runs off 16 balls [4s-2, 6s-1].

Following Kohli's departure, Mayank Yadav, the much-discussed bowler, made an immediate impact. On his first delivery, he induced du Plessis to hit the ball to mid-wicket and attempt a single that wasn't needed. Padikkal quickly collected the ball and sent it straight to the stumps, resulting in du Plessis being run out for 19 runs off 13 balls [4s-3].

Mayank continued to torment RCB's batting lineup with his pace as he dismissed Maxwell. The RCB all-rounder's attempted shot resulted in the ball soaring towards mid-on, where Nicholas Pooran made no mistake in securing the catch. Maxwell's disappointing run with the bat persisted as he departed for a duck.

In Mayank's second over, his pace proved too much for Cameron Green, who was caught off guard as the ball nipped in and clipped the top of the off stump. Green, anchored to the leg side, failed to make contact as he walked back after scoring 9 runs off 9 balls [4s-1].

After 10 overs, RCB managed to score 63 runs while losing 4 wickets, leaving them with the daunting task of chasing 119 runs in 60 balls to win the match.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran's explosive batting display propelled LSG to a formidable total of 182 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Quinton de Kock provided a strong start with a brisk 81 off 56 balls.
