In the Gold medal match at the Asian Games 2023 between the Indian women's cricket team and the Sri Lankan women's cricket team, batter Jemimah Rodrigues played a significant role, remaining at the crease for most of the innings despite losing partners at regular intervals. She formed a strong partnership with Smriti Mandhana, who was eventually dismissed for 46 runs.

In the 16th over, while facing Inoka Ranaweera, Rodrigues faced a tricky situation when Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani attempted to stump her. Rodrigues had lunged forward to play the ball but was deceived as it sharply turned away.

For a brief moment, she found herself outside the crease but quickly dragged her back foot behind the line before the keeper could dislodge the bails. She displayed remarkable agility, almost making a full split to save her wicket. However, she was later dismissed in the final over after scoring 42 runs.

India, batting first, managed to score 116 runs while losing 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. India Women faced an early setback with the dismissal of Shafali Verma, but a strong partnership between Mandhana and Rodrigues for the second wicket, where they added 73 runs, steadied the innings.

Both batters missed out on reaching their fifties, and Sri Lankan bowlers made a comeback by taking regular wickets towards the end of the innings.

Sri Lanka's keeper, Anushka Sanjeewani, played a crucial role by taking a couple of excellent catches and executing a fine run-out on the last ball of the innings.
