The Tuesday triumph by a 200-run margin also marked India's 2nd-largest victory against the West Indies in ODIs.
India secured an astonishing victory against the West Indies in the third and final ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The victory became India's 13th consecutive bilateral ODI series win over the West Indies side. Remarkably, India has not suffered an ODI series loss to the Windies since 2007.
In comparison, Pakistan holds the second-best record with 11 consecutive ODI series wins against Zimbabwe.
The Tuesday triumph, characterized by a 200-run margin, also marked India's second-largest victory against the West Indies in ODIs, gauged by runs.
Ishan Kishan joins Dhoni and others:
Ishan Kishan's masterful innings of 77 runs off 64 balls have shattered a series of records. His remarkable partnership with Shubman Gill paved the way for a record-breaking opening stand of 143 runs, marking the highest opening partnership by India in an ODI on Caribbean soil.
The exhilarating innings also witnessed Kishan notching his third consecutive ODI half-century, a remarkable feat and etching his name in history as the sixth Indian cricketer to achieve it.
Shreyas Iyer, who achieved this milestone against New Zealand in 2020, was the most recent Indian player to have accomplished this feat.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth had earlier set the bar in 1982 against Sri Lanka. Subsequently, Dilip Vengsarkar replicated the feat against Sri Lanka in 1985, followed by Mohammad Azharuddin's achievement in 1993, also against Sri Lanka.
An extended hiatus ensued, spanning 26 years, until MS Dhoni replicated the feat in 2019 against Australia.
India's highest ODI score in the West Indies:
India's batting brilliance reached new heights as they established their highest ODI score on West Indian soil. They surpassed their previous record of 339/6 set on June 26, 2009.
The Men in Blue had emerged victorious in 2009 by a margin of 20 runs, with Shivnarine Chanderpaul leading the hosts' charge with a resilient 63 off 59 balls. Yuvraj Singh had gone on to score 131 off 102 balls.
However, in the recent encounter, no Indian batter managed to attain a century, however, the team collectively achieved their most runs ever without any of their players reaching the coveted three-figure mark.
This milestone surpassed their earlier record of 350/6 against Sri Lanka in Nagpur in 2005. This remarkable achievement underscores India's depth and power-packed batting lineup, contributing significantly to their dominance in the ODI series against the West Indies.
Half-centuries by top-order:
Four of India's top five scored half-centuries, just the seventh instance of this happening for the team in ODI cricket.
Kishan scored 77 off 64 while his opening partner Shubman Gill scored 85 off 92. Sanju Samson came in and smashed 51 in 41 balls while captain Hardik Pandya stayed unbeaten on a blistering 70 off 52.
While Jadeja was unbeaten on eight off seven, Ruturaj Gaikwad fell on eight off 14. Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, scored 35 off 30 before falling to Romario Shepherd.
As for the Windies side, they lost four wickets inside 11 overs as Mukesh Kumar (3/30) made the new ball talk.
The hosts never recovered and Shardul Thakur too came and picked up 4/37. India bowled West Indies out for 151 in 35.3 overs.
