After fans voiced their desire to see Sanju Samson play for India, he was called up for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. In the first game, he didn't get an opportunity to bat due to the low-scoring nature of the match. However, in the second game, he came to the crease after the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan, but his stay was short-lived as he was bowled for 12.

Beuran Hendricks made a successful return to the attack, claiming his first wicket. Although he troubled Sudharsan earlier without success, he capitalized on the chance with Samson. The delivery, a good-length ball angled across, prompted Samson to walk down and defend away from his body. The ball found the inside edge, striking the stumps.
Fans initiated a meme fest as the batter failed to capitalize on the given opportunity.
As of the current writing, 33 overs have been completed, and India has scored 141 runs while losing four wickets. Captain KL Rahul remains at the crease, partnering with debutant Rinku Singh.
