Following a remarkable bowling performance by the Indian team on the morning of Day 1 in the 2nd Test against South Africa, the batting unit encountered difficulties in converting promising starts into substantial scores. Especially the performance of Shreyas Iyer has drawn criticism as he departed for a duck.

The second innings began with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who departed without scoring after facing 7 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma showed resilience but eventually succumbed at 39. Shubman Gill partnered with Virat Kohli, but the Indian cricket 'Prince' couldn't sustain his innings, departing for 36 runs.

After Kohli's dismissal, Shreyas Iyer took the crease, but his stay was short-lived, departing for a duck. Facing a good-length ball slanted across the middle and off, Iyer attempted to defend from the crease but succumbed to the angle, resulting in an easy catch for Kyle Verreynne.

The departure of the middle-order batsman for a duck prompted discussions among netizens, with many expressing frustration over his tendency to give away his wicket.

For the Proteas, Kagiso Rabada claimed the first wicket of Jaiswal, while Nandre Burger secured the other three wickets. At the time of writing this article during the tea break, India had scored 111 runs, losing four wickets in 24 overs. The Men in Blue held a lead of 56 runs at that point. Virat Kohli (20*) was at the crease alongside wicket-keeper KL Rahul, who had yet to open his account.

Earlier in the day, Mohammed Siraj delivered a magical bowling spell, featuring swing, seam, and accuracy, claiming 6 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar each secured two wickets.
