After setting an impressive total of 397 runs on the scoreboard, the Indian men's cricket team, during their fielding innings, displayed signs of struggle. Despite Mohammed Shami dismissing the two openers, Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell managed to build a robust 100+ runs partnership. However, the Kiwi batters received assistance from India's lacklustre fielding performance in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled a few wides and misfielded, while Ravindra Jadeja, while bowling, received the ball and inadvertently hit it back towards the striker's end, unintentionally sending it for a boundary. The frustration within the Indian team during this partnership has stirred reactions from fans, who took to social media to express their opinions.

Earlier in the match, after winning the toss and choosing to bat in the 1st semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Virat Kohli smashed a century, marking his 50th ODI hundred and surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI tons.

Shreyas Iyer also contributed with a century, while Shubman Gill scored 80 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma provided his signature explosive start, scoring 47 off 29 balls, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten with 39 runs.
