Following Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal for 57 on Day 1 of the fifth and final Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala the Indian team didn't lose momentum. Skipper Rohit Sharma found a capable partner in Shubman Gill, who aggressively took on the England bowlers, securing yet another half-century.

Gill's innings mark his fourth 50+ score in the five-match series against England. His fearless approach at the crease, comprising 7 fours and three sixes, has earned him praise from netizens. Even his father, who is sitting in the stands, was seen clapping when his son reached the 50-run mark.

As of this report, India has amassed 202 runs in 45 overs, trailing by only 17 runs. Despite the loss of Jaiswal's wicket, the Men in Blue are firmly in control. The partnership between Gill (64) and Rohit, who has scored 76, has already gone over 95 runs.

Earlier in the match, on Day 1, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the second-fastest Indian batsman to reach 1,000 Test runs, achieving this milestone in just 16 innings. Additionally, he has also scored 700 runs in this series alone.

Before India's innings, England was bowled out for 218 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav claiming a five-wicket haul and R Ashwin, in his 100th Test appearance, securing four wickets. Apart from Zak Crawley's notable contribution of 79 runs, no other batsman managed to exceed the 30-run mark. Ben Duckett (27), Joe Root (26), Jonny Bairstow (29), and Ben Foakes (24) made up the remainder of England's runs.
