The first Test between India and England saw the visiting side clinch victory by 28 runs, in a game that seemed nearly out of their grasp. Bumrah's actions occurred in the 81st over of England's second innings, when he deliberately stepped in the way of Pope's run after completing his follow-through. Additionally, one demerit point has been added to Bumrah’s disciplinary record, marking his first offence in 24 months.

On the other hand, star all-rounder Jadeja may miss the 2nd Test against England in Visakhapatnam due to an injury sustained on Day 4 of the first Test. Jadeja appeared to have pulled his hamstring, which could explain his run-out by England skipper Ben Stokes during the host nation's second innings.
