This is also their first victory defending in this tournament so far, having chased five games in a row.

During the second innings, England aimed to chase the modest target of 230 runs set by India, seemingly poised for their second win of the tournament. However, the Indian bowlers left no room for the English batters to settle. This victory propels India to the top of the points table with 12 points from six wins in as many games.

Mohammed Shami's four-wicket haul, complemented by Jasprit Bumrah's three wickets, Kuldeep Yadav's two scalps, and Ravindra Jadeja's one wicket, dismantled the English side.

India initiated a dominant start in the second innings, claiming four wickets within the first powerplay while conceding a mere 40 runs. Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes were the batters dismissed in the first ten overs, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami each taking two wickets.

The vital wicket of Jos Buttler was later secured by Kuldeep Yadav, and Shami returned to dismiss Moeen Ali in the 24th over. By the end of 25 overs, England had reached 84/6.

The onslaught continued as Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Chris Woakes (10), and Adil Rashid was bowled by Shami for 13. Kuldeep Yadav sent the top scorer, Liam Livingstone, back to the pavilion with 27 runs. Bumrah wrapped up the game for India by clean-bowling Mark Wood for a duck.

In the first innings, India's batters, led by captain Rohit Sharma's 87, struggled against the England bowlers, especially David Willey, and posted a total of 229-9. Willey, the left-arm fast bowler, returned impressive figures of 3-45, which included the prized wicket of Virat Kohli, who departed for a duck off nine balls.

Fast bowler Chris Woakes and leg-spinner Adil Rashid claimed two wickets each. England's fielders displayed a spirited performance by diving and preventing runs, altering the appearance of the team.

Woakes dismissed opener Shubman Gill for nine in the fourth over and later India found themselves at 40-3 in 12 overs when Woakes took the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, who scored just four runs.

Suryakumar Yadav fought hard, contributing 49 runs before becoming Willey's third victim. Despite the challenges, India's tailenders managed to play out the full 50 overs.
