In the 4th T20I clash between India and Australia, Australian captain Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to field at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The visiting team underwent significant changes, with Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Kane Richardson, and Nathan Ellis being left out. The Indian team also made alterations to their lineup.

Expressing his thoughts after the toss, Captain Suryakumar Yadav stated, "We would have chased as well, but our batting unit has been firing well. 1st T20I here, let's see how it goes, very excited. 4 changes for us - Mukesh comes in for Prasidh, Deepak Chahar comes in for Arshdeep, Shreyas replaces Tilak and there is one more change."

Shortly after, the BCCI shared the playing XI image, Ruturaj Gaikwad was still listed as the vice-captain. -

Although he has held the role for the past three games, it was anticipated that Shreyas Iyer, returning to the squad after a break, would assume the deputy role under SKY.
