In the final of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, having been asked to bat first, has been dismissed for 240 in 50 overs. The big question arises is this score good enough for Team India to defend this below-par but a respectable total?

Rohit Sharma, adhering to his usual style, provided a flying start despite the early loss of Shubman Gill. Rohit and Virat Kohli displayed intent in their partnership, but a spectacular catch by Travis Head ended Rohit's innings, leading to a challenging phase for India.

Pat Cummins then removed the in-form Shreyas Iyer for 4, disrupting India's momentum. Kohli and KL Rahul managed a 50-run partnership, but the Australian skipper dismissed Kohli, leaving the stadium in silence.

With exceptional fielding, the Australians restricted boundaries, and the Indian batters struggled to rotate the strike. The pacers exploited reverse swing on a slow track, and India reached 240.

If dew is not a factor, India will remain hopeful, but at the halfway mark, Australia holds the advantage. The onus is on Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj to secure early wickets and maintain competitiveness in the match.

In the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023, India's total of 240 against Australia in the final marks their second-lowest score in the tournament. Their lowest score was 229 for nine in a match against England, which India, however, won by 100 runs.
