It’s the round of 16 at the French Open and the first set of 4 matches will be held on June 2 across the two roof-covered courts, Court Philippe-Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen. World No.1 and defending champion Iga Swiatek will play Anastasia Popatova (ranked 43) in the fourth round of the clay court at the Philippe Chatrier at 2.30 pm (IST). A fourth round at the French Open 2024 is a career best for Popatova at any Grand Slam. This is Swiatek and Popatova’s head-to-head encounter, with the former expected to make her way to the quarter-finals.

At the same time on Court Suzanne Lenglen, it will be Olga Danilovic vs Marketa Vondrousova. Danilovic and Vondrousa have played each other once before, which, the latter won. The odds are stacked heavily in favour of Vondrousova, the 2019 French Open runner-up and defending Wimbledon champ.

Later in the day, back at the Phillipe Chatrier, Coco Gauff will play Elisabetta Cocciaretto, with a 2-0 head-to-head advantage. Cocciaretto’s Round 4 outing today is her career best at a Grand Slam event so far. Gauff, the 2022 runner-up is expected to advance to the quarter-final.

The fourth match of the day will be at Court Suzanne Lenglen with Clara Tauson taking on Ons Jabeur. The duo has not played each other earlier, but Jabeur is the clear favourite, given her Grand Slam track record. She was quarter-finalist last year at Roland Garros and runner-up at Wimbledon.
