It’s the battle of the final four in the men’s singles category of the 2024 French Open in Paris. Four men who have never won the French Open before, although one came tantalisingly close twice. 25-year-old Casper Rudd has played two French Open finals and lost to two tennis greats, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Alexander Zverev had never before advanced beyond the semi-final stage, which is also the case with Carlos Alcaraz. Jannik Sinner’s best was a quarter-final outing prior to today.

French Open semis match schedule

The Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros is where both matches will play out. First up is Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner. All of 20-years-old, Alcaraz is the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Wimbledon champion, while 21-year-old Sinner, who has just become the World No.1, is the 2024 Australian Open winner. Their semi-final match is scheduled for 6 pm (IST).

At 9 pm (expected time), Casper Ruud will play Alexander Zverev. Both Ruud and Zverev do not have Grand Slam wins to their credit yet, although the former has played in three finals, including two in Roland Garros and once at the US Open.

Head-to-head record; predictions

Alcaraz and Sinner have played each other 8 times earlier with the wins split evenly at 4:4. Two of those matches came in Grand Slam tournaments, with Sinner beating Alcaraz in the Round of 16 at the 2022 Wimbledon and then have the tables turn at the US Open the same year in the quarter-final. The prediction is that Sinner will prevail.

Ruud and Zverev are also evenly split at 2:2 in their head-to-head track record, with the former, perhaps going into the match with a slight advantage. Ruud had stopped Zverev in his tracks in the 2023 French Open semi-final, which was the latter’s third straight loss at that stage in the tournament. Zverev is currently in impeccable form on clay court, but the predictions for this match are still favouring Ruud.
