The prestigious clay court Grand Slam, the French Open is now at the quarter-final stage, with 8 men and 8 women in the fray for a shot at glory in Roland Garros. Over June 4 and 5, four quarter-final matches (2 for the women and 2 for the men) will be held at the Court Philippe Chatrier, which has a roof and will, therefore, not have rain disruptions.

Here’s who is taking centre court today in the men’s singles category; head-to-head record

The first quarter-final in the men’s singles will have Jannik Sinner take on Grigor Dimitrov at 5.15 pm (expected time), while the second match at 11.45 pm will have Carlos Alcaraz playing Stefanos Tsitsipas under the floodlights at the centre court. Sinner leads 3:1 against Dimitrov in head-to-head encounters, whereas Alcaraz has beaten his opponent Tsitsipas in all 5 of their earlier matches, including at last year’s French Open.

Road to the quarter-final

Grigor Dimitrov beat Aleksandar Kovacevic, Fábián Marozsán, Zizou Bergs and Hubert Hurkacz to make it to the round of 8, whereas Sinner overcame Christopher Eubanks, Richard Gasquet, Pavel Kotov and Corentin Moutet.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ French Open so far included wins over Marton Fucsovics, Daniel Altmaier, Zhizhen Zhang and Matteo Arnaldi. Carlos Alaraz beat JJ Wolf, Jesper De Jong, Sebastian Korda and Felix Auger-Aliassime to set up today’s quarter-final clash.

Women’s quarter-finals on June 4

The first match of the day is between Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur, followed by Iga Swiatek vs Marketa Vondrousova, scheduled for 2.30 pm and 4 pm, respectively, as of now. These matches are also being held at the Court Philippe Chatrier, which has a seating capacity of over 15,000, and has a retractable roof and floodlights.

The French Open is inching closer to the culmination, with the women’s singles final on June 8, Saturday and the Men’s Singles final on June 9. Iga Swiatek is expected to defend the title and win it a record fourth time. Novak Djokovic is the defending champ in the men's category and has had two scintillating 5 set wins along the way to the Round of 8, but will he take home the title one more time?
