In Match 9 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) the host city staged an impressive recovery after a shaky start, transforming their score from 57/3 in the initial 10 overs to a commanding 128/2 in the subsequent 10, ultimately reaching a formidable total of 185 for the fall of 5 wickets. Leading this spirited revival was Riyan Parag, whose unbeaten 84 played a pivotal role in shaping RR's innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

In the final over of DC's bowling innings, Anrich Nortje was tasked with restraining RR's scoring and ideally picking up wickets. However, he was unable to contain Parag, who plundered 25 runs off the over, including four boundaries and two sixes, along with a single off the last ball.

Earlier in the innings, RR endured a flurry of early dismissals, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (5), Jos Buttler (11), and skipper Sanju Samson (15) losing their wickets to DC's potent bowling attack. R Ashwin was promoted to No. 5 and contributed a valuable 29 off 19 balls, providing stability alongside Parag and striking three sixes to accelerate RR's scoring rate.

Dhruv Jurel also played a supporting role, contributing 20 runs before being dismissed by Nortje, but it was Parag who stole the spotlight. After initially playing a patient innings, Parag seized control, allowing his partners to play aggressively before unleashing his array of attacking strokes.

For DC, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, and Kuldeep Yadav have each claimed a wicket.
