Review:

Popular American sitcom, Young Sheldon is back with a new episode after a long hiatus on Amazon Prime Video. The series recently aired episode 14 of Season 5. Titled, 'A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles', it is about the science project that Sheldon has taken on with Dr Sturgis and Dr Linkletter.

The story seems to be focussing more on the professors, rather than its central character, which is Sheldon. President Hagemeyer plays a little trick to get the three of them to get along with each other but all in vain. She tells each of them that they are the leader of the project but her plan gets her to land in soup. The four have a little confrontation. Fed up of their childishness, Hagemeyer appoints a new scientist, Dr. Lee (Ming-Na Wen). The introduction and the way Dr Lee tackles the three is a fun watch.

The episode talks about women in science and the discrimination that female scientists face in the man-dominated field. The episode also explores Mary fighting her urges to claim the reward she wins through a lottery ticket. She tells George that it is not good money as it was not hard-earned and God would be upset with them. Missy and George have different plans about what to do with the money. Mary gives in and later, buys a new dishwasher. The sequences seem annoying with the superstitious beliefs of Mary.

The latest episode has Sheldon mention for the first time that he speaks Klingon, which he kept boasting about in The Big Bang Theory.

However, the writing of the series has sunk drastically. The series was never as popular as The Big Bang Theory but it at least used to be a good watch. Now, it seems to be lackadaisical about the story.

Verdict:

The episode is less about Sheldon and more about his family and professors in college. The series seems to have lost its appeal.
