To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean
Since the final year of high school has started, Lara Jean (Lana Condor) has dreamt of her every step with Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) in the future. From graduating together and studying in the same college to getting married and having kids, Lara Jean was certain with every decision. But, then something unexpected happened. Almost at the end of high school, Lara Jean has to choose one of the two most important things in her life. The adaptation of Jenny Han’s final installment of YA romance novels is predictable yet the outcome will surprise you.
In To All The Boys trilogy, the first two parts were all about high school romance, breakups, colorful background as well as costumes. Well, the third installment is not any different, in fact, it’s filled with more colors and cupcakes, but with a little less (but appropriate) romance and more seriousness than the last two.
Noah’s Peter, a stellar lacrosse enthusiast has already got admission to Stanford University and hopes that his girlfriend would get in as well and they can live their college dream after high school. Unfortunately, even with a great record, LJ fails with her attempt. But, it’s still not over for her, as she has got a few more Ivy League college results awaited. She gets the good news from Berkeley (which is near Stanford) and NYU. While LJ plans for Berkeley, the latter took her heart during her trip to New York.
Michael Fimognari's vision of paying homage to the 90s romance has been perfectly blended with Han's 2017 novel Always and Forever, Lara Jean, and served to the genre's loyalists. Catherine Ircha's art direction as well as stunning trio Richard Beech, Michael Jovanovski, and Renee Read's gorgeous set decoration make it an ideal teen rom-com movie.
Our lover boy's loving gestures and adorable smile have filled the movie with charm. Lara Jean’s colorful wardrobe and cupcakes have made the movie brighter and tasteful. I’m certain that millennials could learn a lot from diverse aspects of this movie and the adults would be able to re-live their high school days.
To All The Boys Always and Forever is a perfect end and a beginning. How so, you may ask? Well, stream it on Netflix to find out.
