Most of the things you see in this movie, also starring Kaley Cuoco, are what you have witnessed in Hollywood itself over the years.
The Man from Toronto
Story:
Teddy (Kevin Hart) is trying to make a life of his own when he meets the unpopular 'Man from Toronto' (Woody Harrelson). Their lives intertwine and not always in ways that they want it to.
Review:
The Man From Toronto is a ride that gets better on the way. It is not something you will be gripped on to but the film isn't something that bores you to death either.
Kevin Hart is back, this time as Teddy Jackson. The character is completely in sync with his own self. It is funny because of the situation. As always, Kevin pulls off the character flawlessly.
Woody Harrelson enters the film as the deadly, unpopular 'Man From Toronto'. He creates fear instantly. While the actor is good in most scenes, some of them appear forced.
You just do not understand how the two worlds will combine and that is the beauty of the film. It is the beauty of Toronto.
Kaley Cuoco as Annie plays one of the lesser-like girl BFFs. If pissing every viewer off was her mission, it is a job well done. She does get a little impressive but that again is just for a brief period.
The action in this one is huge but not such that it blows your mind away. You have seen all of these action scenes before and so, there's literally nothing that leaves you awestruck.
They say that if you cannot scare somebody, gross them out. This film stays true to that statement. It is the power of gross.
The movie is an entertaining ride in all terms - providing laughter as well as action. On the other hand, it tries too hard to promote brotherhood where there is barely any bond.
Verdict:
The Man From Toronto is just a one-time watch. The movie is, in many ways, a drag. There is nothing new here and even though it is entertaining, that is not enough to get all your attention.
