Tanaav season 2 Volume 2 review: Manav Vij-Gaurav Arora's show has cinematic moments that leave you intrigued

Story:

Fareed Mir is out to seek revenge for his father's death. His target is Kabir Farooqui, who he believes killed Mir saab. While trying to destroy Kabir, Fareed also joins and leads a mission that believes they are 'saving Kashmir.'

Review:

Taanav 2 Vol 2 takes you to the recap of the first volume. Gaurav Arora's Fareed Mir causing chaos and targetting Manav Vij's Kabir Farooqui was the highlight back then.

Vol 2 commences with a new beginning. The story shifts to Rajat Kapoor's Jagjit Malik taking the lead in PoK.

Shashank Arora's Junaid is back with Haqim Durrani/Muneer (Amit Gaur). We get to meet the leader Idris Lone, too, thanks to Kabir. Arslan Goni's Kunal Mattoo rules the scene just as much, if not more.

The thrill is slow in this one, for this is a continuation, with no time to reintroduce the gangs or characters, per se. However, you really never know what would unfold when if you have followed the theme of the show so far.

Tensions are high, but action isn't, at least initially. Too much background music further impacts the show. It takes time to build, but once we get there, it is a smooth ride.

Fareed Mir has issued a warning, but it doesn't leave an impact like it should. Of course, it is this scene that changes the whole narrative, for it is the first scene in the series where something inside Kabir stirs up and we already know, that is the moment when Tanaav actually feels like the show.

Ekta Kaul's Farah, still looking innocent, might just end up not being so innocent. She leaves you in constant doubt till the very end.

Like expected, Kabir and Farah's reunion is a romantic one. But, this love story might have been better if it remained buried (no hate intended).

Kabir Bedi's Haider Farooqui has charisma but not too much to offer in this volume. There's a reason for it, but does it suffice? Not really.

Shashank Arora, on the other hand, like always, leaves an impact in his role of Junaid. It is the straightforward questions that amp up his character.

The attention to detail in a few scenes, with glimpses of objects before the actual actions unfolding, works against the scenes. What should've been a smooth impact ends up being a predictable move.

The moment of the house owner's realization about Fareed Mir is one of the highlights this time. Of course, that scene also ends up being predictable but the direction for this one was fair enough.

This time, there are too many deaths, that too back-to-back. Is it the start of a fresh story, or will we be digging graves so forth? It's time to wait and watch.

The scene featuring the two brothers Fahad and Fareed also lures you in for the drama. There's love, there's constant confusion about brotherhood vs. Kashmir, and only one can win. The series explores which option the terrorist chooses.

The situation gets tense, and the realism of Kashmir is brought forth in the most brutal manner. This scene leaves your stomach in knots.

If you haven't grasped it yet, Mir Sarwar's Idris is quite the character. His graph is the same but better, given how fast he switches when the tables turn. Even in a smaller role, his aura lingers on.

Each episode this time around ends on a cliffhanger. This makes the series quite an interesting watch this time around.

As expected of the last episode, it begins with a banger and uncertainties. The thrill and heart-pumping action that you expect from the series is here, and it almost works.

The one moment you keep waiting for takes too long to arrive. When it does come, the action keeps you longing. One very critical moment - the ultimate face-off - makes the wait worth it.

Manav Vij taking back control is what Tanaav has always been, and it is the very moment that steals the show here, too. The very ending leaves you with a promise - of a new beginning.

Verdict:

Tanaav season 2 Volume 2 is two levels upgrade from Volume 1. The first part was more of an introduction or should we say, re-introduction to the characters. It was almost dedicated to trying to show us how ruthless Gaurav Arora's Fareed Mir can be, and while it did set the tone, it left only slight impact. If both the volumes released as season 2, there would be a higher impact. Nonetheless, Tanaav season 2 Volume 2 is here and it is finally worth your time, each episode at that. So go right away and binge-watch it, mainly for how the story unfolds.
