Taarak Mehta Kka Chhota Chashmah

Story:

Inspired by the iconic TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Taarak Mehta Kka Chota Chashmah sees Tapu and his sena at the centre of the story. Every Gokuldham society member - Jethalal, Dayaben, Bapuji, Bhide family, Hathi family, Sodhi family, Babita, Iyer, Popatlal, Abdul and others from the original show are also back for this one.

Review:

Taarak Mehta Kka Chota Chashmah, inspired by TMKOC, is clever. It retains the essence of the original show but adds some new factors like the unrealistic settings.

The series retains the essense of the show. You get to see an impatient Bapuji and a childish Tapu at the beginning and even if the expected happens, it is still fun.

Jethalal enters like the hero he is. Bapuji's expressions when that happens are on point.

Daya's entry and everything related to her is stereotypical and OTT. Agreed that Dayaben has developed her character in a certain sense but the one adapted in the series just doesn't impress.

She actually pulls off an Ajay Devgn by standing between two bicycles in a scene and it is hilare. Other times, her garba causes chaos. While she was controlled in the original show, her she is uninhibited.

While a lot of fun, Taarak Mehta Ka Chota Chashmah lacks realism which was there in the original show. Just because this series is animated, does not mean the makers could take so much creative liberty that they make an air rickshaw and show people falling in and out of it mid-air. Heard of gravity?

From Madhavi bhabhi's papad to Bhide's scooter, the nostalgia of the show is intact. Good morning Gokuldham also comes in an episode. For the uninitiated, it is the iconic introduction for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

Since Tapu and his sena are the centre of the animated series, they are shown as smart even here. However, Tapu is shown like a superhuman. That is what differentiates the original show and this animated series.

Verdict:

You will like Taarak Mehta Kka Chota Chashmah if you have been a die-hard fan of TMKOC. If you simply like the show, this animated series could just make you lose interest pretty soon thanks to its stereotyping and insanity, both of which are not in the original. Nonetheless, it is too much fun so watch this animated series if you can absolutely sit through every episode of TMKOC.
