While Mehul Buch is great in almost every frame, Sharad Sharma comes a close second, followed by Manisha Vora.
Story:
Vishwas (Mehul Buch) lives in a nuclear family but one day, he decides to bring his parents (played by Sharad Sharma and Amita Rajda) home. Just then, his wife Shraddha (Manisha Vora)’s life also takes a huge turn. Sutarne Tatne Bandhayela Aapne shows how a family is rooted no matter how far they go.
Review:
Sutarne Tatne Bandhayela Aapne (We are binded together) is a play that tries to show how family is constantly above everything in life. It shows the ups and downs in a family but in the most dramatic and toxic way possible.
The story begins with the typical male mentality - about how girls belong in the kitchen. Thankfully, the women shut it down as soon as the words are uttered.
Manisha Vora plays the lead role of Shraddha and doesn't disappoint in the acting department. She is the prime example of a modern woman who is cool as well as strong-headed when she makes a decision.
Mehul Buch as Vishwas enters the show and instantly proves his acting prowess. He switches from stressed to angry in minutes. He is also someone who demands your attention with the way he dives deep into a scene and emotes just what is needed from it.
Their romantic moments are adorable, especially thanks to Mehul. Despite going through his own troubles, he takes initiative and makes the scene adorable.
Sharad Sharma in the role of Bapuji is subtle. He will remind you of elderly and how they are constantly unwell. Not just that, he is also fun, which brings a fresh mood to the play. He is so cool that when he finally loses it, even that is savage.
The music in the play is unnecessary and comes at the wrong time. The infamous thunder music ruins the mood but the constant music following that does build up the scene but it again comes at a wrong time. Most of the times, this music along with the dramatic scenes work in putting you to sleep.
Amita Rajda as maa tries her best but leaves a minimal effect to the story. Hers is a sweet yet dramatic character that barely contributes to the play.
The plot turns funny just when needed the most which is a good thing. However, soon the plot turns intense and dramatic again. Thankfully though, the scene is executed well thanks to Mehul.
Do not expect anything new at the sets level since the common sets used for plays has been used here. The one scene where sun meets the sea is also a part of the play which is not new either.
The context for this play is super weak. It has a base made out of toxic mentality and thus, there is literally nothing that impresses you about the play except Mehul's character.
The last scene is never-ending and impractical. If it were real life, the person would be dead but just for dramatic effect and to fit in the dialogues, this scene was created.
Verdict:
The storyline for Sutarne Tatne Bandhayela Aapne is too weak. It doesn't help that the play has a lot of dramatic music. However, certain characters like Mehul Buch's Vishwas, Sharad Sharma's Bapuji and even Manisha Vora's Shraddha to an extent, add some sparkle to the otherwise dull play. If you are a fan of these actors, then you can tolerate this play just the one time.
