Selling Tampa series review: It's all about the glam and drama with a touch of realism

Selling Tampa is much like Selling Sunset, only more real when it came to the office and colleague scenarios.

Story:

Real estate agents try to sell properties in Tampa. Their lives and works are explored in Selling Tampa, much like the concept of Selling Sunset.

Review:

A spin-off from Netflix's real-estate reality show Selling Sunset, Selling Tampa follows a similar concept - where we get into the buyers' gossip. While it was the white ladies last time, Selling Tampa focuses on the power of the black women.

Unlike Selling Sunset, we do not meet a new entrant in the show. Nonetheless, it is pretty fun to be transported to their world.

Rena would remind you of Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson from the American TV drama series, Suits. From dressing to her boss woman attitude, both are eerily similar.

As expected, the series has some drama. The girls literally party and work together. Like Selling Sunset, Selling Tampa deals with interpersonal relationships. While many girls just try to get along, others are close friends and share personal details with each other.

How a promising agent Anne's life changes, is pretty interesting. The aspect, however, doesn’t turn out how you expect it to. Thus, the excitement kind of drops from there. Sometime later, the topic comes back and things get real.

Selling Tampa is all about luxury and glamour. There is a lot of bling, food and drinks. So, if that is what you are looking for, the series gives you a lot of it.

There is a moment when all the ladies do a Beyonce and it will make your gossip girl in you happy. The series also subtly brings forth male bullying. The discomfort in the guy is very clear but has not been addressed as much.

Selling Tampa also gets something from Selling Sunset - sharing the pregnancy news. One way in which the two are different is - while the agents worked in a well-established setting already in Selling Sunset, here, they are rising and trying to establish themselves as they go along.

The show brings the attitude of employees right. Nobody likes micro-managing and there is someone in the team who does that. It calls for the downfall of the agency since the already unhappy employees look for a way out. There are real moments, where people play politics with one another. While the drama factor is immense in the show, this aspect could work well with many.

Verdict:

If you are a fan of shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians or Selling Sunset, then Selling Tampa is worth a watch. If you love watching crime dramas, on the other hand, you should most definitely give this one a skip.
