Ramany Vs Ramany 3.O
Story: The Ramanys discuss 'seven-year itch' after their daughter asks them separately if they had been in an extra-marital relationship during their two decade-old marriage life. Though they dismiss her question initially, the couple give it a serious thought and talk about the office crushes of each other.
Review: The latest episode, titled Seven Year Itch, begins with Ramany (Vasuki) seen indulged in a counselling session for a middle-age couple who are hell-bent on getting a divorce from each other. Despite her trying her best to pacify them, they are in no mood to listen to her advice.
She tells them that the conflict they face in their life is the after effect of seven-year itch, but they seem to be unconvinced. Her daughter Ragini, who is about to leave the house for a date, gets intrigued at the term seven-year itch and asks her mother about the same.
Ramany explains about the myth and reality associated with the concept. Quite perplexed about it, she goes to her father Ramany (Ramji) and discusses the same with her as well. Meanwhile, Ragini comes across an old, partially torn photo of her mothers from her wardrobe.
After having a close look at the photo, she becomes suspicious over the photo being torn and comes to a conclusion that the other person in the picture could be her mother's ex-boyfriend. She takes up the matter to her father after which he too starts suspecting his wife, but is unable to ask her.
This wafer-thin plot is more than enough for an episode with a duration of 30 minutes. Ramji, Vasuki and Ponni come up with engaging performances as usual. The conversation between Ramji and Vasuki is funny, thanks to the former's innocent expressions and the latter's convincing performance as a loving wife who makes her husband jealous on purpose.
However, the simple plot becomes stretched after a point, and becomes predictable when the wife opens up about her anonymous boyfriend with whom she has been having a secret affair for a long time. Though the filmmaker tries to make it a suspense-filled sequence for both the husband and the audience, it fizzles out because of the lackadaisical execution.
A small portion involving a delivery boy and the wife is okayish, and doesn't add any weightage to the proceedings. The conversation between Vasuki and Ramji becomes one-sided after a point, another aspect which disturbs the flow in the fun factor.
Verdict: The fourth episode of the series has a few funny moments, but ends up as a predictable attempt.
