Raat Jawaan Hai Review: Barun Sobti redefines 'stay-at-home' daddy norms like a pro in heartwarming tale of parenthood and friendships

The Sumeet Vyas' directorial Raat Jawaan Hai focuses on the theme of balancing childhood friendships with parenthood in the modern age. The story of three best friends, Avinash (Barun Sobti), Suman (Priya Bapat), and Radhika (Anjali Anand) face new challenges every day while they take care of their kids and plan meet-ups. The 8-episodic series aptly highlights all the issues a new modern age mommy and a father face while juggling parenthood, friendships, and society. Raat Jawaan Hai is an adorably chaotic journey as adulthood collides with the challenges of parenthood.

Raat Jawaan Hai review:

The SonyLIV series opens with Suman (Priya Bapat) who just takes her phone after putting her kid into sleep. Her husband comes and accidentally increases the volume up of his phone that leads to their kid wake up from the sleep. Every scene of the series is relatable to the new parents.

Suman has two best friends - Avinash (Barun Sobti) and Radhika (Anjali Anand). While Radhika and Suman are stay-at-home moms, Avinash is a doting stay-at-home dad. Sounds interesting right?

Avinash is a cool dad who takes care of his kid while his wife does a job. He feeds his daughter Rahi, plays with her, and takes care of her when she falls ill. On the other hand, Suman and Radhika take care of their respective babies. While taking care of their kids, the three best friends meet in a park and decide to go to a movie. But, various issues appear such as who will take care of their babies, their kids won't stay at their grandparents' houses, and many more. Moreover, the common problem is that the schedule does not match with anyone. This is one of the most relatable things the series has shown. You need to watch the series to know how they tackle the situation. 

However, after a lot of planning, they decide on a date, and the final day, Avinash faces an issue as his daughter falls asleep and he needs to stay with her. So, they plan to hang out at Avinash's house. There, they have a lot of chit-chat and drink and in the meanwhile, they reminisce about their college days. While conversing, we get to know that Suman had a crush on Avinash earlier. 

The series covers a wide range of topics, from modern parenting, maintaining a social life, and keeping up with in-laws and families to new mommy guilt and intimate discussion between a wife and a husband. Whether you are married or not, a new parent, or yet to embrace pregnancy, Raat Jawaan Hai is for every parent and nonparent. 

From how a new mommy feels a 'mom guilt' when she does not find enough time to stay with her kids to her feeling immense joy seeing her husband having a good time with their kid while she is away for work, the series covers everything in a cool way. 

Not only this, but also, when the three best friends go on a search for a new nanny for Radhika's kid, and find out that the new nanny will leave her little kids to take care of Radhika's kid, touch the hearts. 

Raat Jawaan Hai also focuses on a new father who stays at home and has to hear words like, 'he is depending on his wife's money' from relatives. 

From the beginning to the end, the three best friends aptly show it is not an easy task to parent kids while balancing friendships and social life. 

However, at some point, the plot of Raat Jawaan Hai feels like they have dragged some scenes way too much and there it starts feeling a bit boring. Personally, some scenes also seem low-crafted as the series tries to carry a huge topic. 

Raat Jawaan Hai performance:

Speaking about the performance, Barun Sobti wins the heart with his simply effective acting skill as a doting father in the series. On the other hand, Anjali Anand and Priya Bapat shine bright. 

The series also features Vikram Singh Chauhan, Priyansh Jora, and Hasleen Kaur also swiftly ace their roles in the series. 

Raat Jawaan Hai verdict:

Raat Jawaan Hai is a feel-good series that warms hearts and even makes you cry in some scenes with relatable modern-age problems. While the three best friends try to plan a meet-up to relax for a bit from performing parent duties, they face new challenges every day with heartwarming family moments. However, at some point, it lacks the rhythm to cope up with the wide range of topics. Despite this, if you are yearning for an uplifting plot, Sumeet Vyas' series is a must-watch!
