Review
Nethone Nenu is about how the government schools in the country are not provided basic amenities and if done so, how well the students can go to the next level. The same has been showcased in a detailed manner and there is also an underlying love story to make the viewing a bit commercial.
The backdrop and aesthetics of the film are quite impressive and the basic storyline and a small twist that is unleashed at the break point in a very interesting way. But the problem in the film is the pace which is dead slow. Things take a lot of time to get to the actual conflict point. Until then, things are slow and the love story takes things down a bit.
When it comes to performances, Vikas Vasishta's portrayal as a dedicated lecturer was truly impressive. He adeptly captured the nuances of a loving and responsible husband, rendering his character remarkably authentic and relatable. If given good roles, Vikas can go a long way in his career.
Kushita Kallapu's performance as a compassionate Physical Education teacher who holds deep affection for Vikas was executed with finesse, injecting a sense of genuineness into her character. Despite her limited screen time as Vikas's wife, Mokksha left a lasting and favorable impression with her noteworthy performance.
One of the major assets of the film is the music by Karthik. His songs drive the narrative and the BGM is even better. The production values by Mamidi Entertainments of the film are pretty good and one should appreciate director Anji Ram as he has made the most of his resources in a decent manner.
The emotional thread in the film is a bit weak. The screenplay should have been even tighter to make the emotions work in several areas. The twist that is showcased is good but it should have created more impact in the proceedings but that does not happen and things get bogged down a bit.
Nethone Nenu has a very good subject and takes a dig at the loopholes in government school. But it lacks conviction in key scenes. If more drama and free flow of emotions would have been added, things would have been even better. But still, the film has scenes and backdrop that will interest you if you ignore the slow pace.
Verdict
On the whole, Nethone Nenu is a realistic social drama that showcases the plight of teachers and how government schools ignore students. The backdrop and performances are good but the pacing is slow and takes time to get to the actual conflict.
