Review:
To watch the final season of Little Things, fans have waited for nearly two years now. After 2019, the cute couple on the web Dhruv Vats (Dhruv Sehgal) and Kavya Kulkarni (Mithila Palkar) have reunited one last time to stay etched forever in fans' hearts. Something similar happens to them in reel life too. The couple gets into a longer long-distance relationship as seen in the third season finale. The fourth season starts with them coming together after 14 months which is quite similar to how long it took to come out on Netflix.
The actors Mithila and Dhruv have brought in more sense of maturity in their performance. They managed to show how their characters have evolved with the experience they got in being together for six years and external factors too. Little Things always brings a little tinge of fear whether they will be together forever or will there be a final goodbye. The tense continues despite them showing that they are mature enough to handle relationship crises like adults.
That's the beauty of Little Things, it gives the title a deeper meaning. Little Things is about everything - good, bad, best, worst which happens in a relationship and how you don't give up. Dhruv and Kavya continue with their stint of not giving up on each other because they are meant to be together. The sense of comfort both show by talking to each other about sex, their parents, friends, work, interests and a lot more.
However, a few of the conversations seem to just make no sense at all. They are just filled in between the bigger conversation they make and sound very caricaturish in many instances. The writers Abhinandan Sridhar, Nupur Pai, Garima Pura Patiyaalvi and Gaurav Patki could have invested more in making the dialogues sound more mature as the characters are. Not just that, at many sequences, the writing slightly goes haywire but gets back in control towards the final episodes.
The first four episodes of Little Things are entirely shot in the picturesque locales of Kerala. The couple spent their time working and also for leisure. As mentioned earlier about the testing times in their relationship, Dhruv and Kavya unravel many things which were left unsaid for 14 months due to their long-distance relationship.
To be honest, the series runs smoothly and is much enjoyable in the first four episodes when it's the return of their honeymoon period. The discomfort shown between the leads is well put by Mithila and Palkar. They cite that despite being in a relationship for six years, a long-distance relationship can make physical discomfort very evident after depending entirely on technology.
The series then takes a heavy turn which might be needed but also stressful for the viewers. The writers made sure to cover all aspects of the relationship in this season which has been divided into two parts. But having said that, the makers bring a smile to the audience's face with every episode, leaving hope for people to believe in relationships in this fragile world.
It's a tough thing to bid goodbye to the characters Dhruv and Kavya after five years of warmth and comfortable feelings they gave through Little Things. They have travelled together be it Kerala, or outskirts to attend a friend's wedding. But once they are back in Mumbai, they add the city as a character like making it the very reason why they are these people in the relationship. Their midnight cravings and enjoying roadside tea give a more personal touch to the city, proving that they would have done it if it was for any other city.
The cinematography of Little Things goes from being touristy to a Bigg Boss house (no not invading privacy). Like how Dhruv and Kavya put their tourist caps on in Kerala, the scenic justice is beautifully done by the cinematography. Similarly, once they are back home, the camera takes to every nook and corner of the flat which they make their comfy abode.
The fourth season showed that it's about time for Dhruv and Kavya to bid goodbye to the viewers. They bring to a stage where viewers can only imagine what would happen further and not witness it. Dhruv and Kavya will be missed immensely but will make one go back to the first season where it all started.
Verdict:
It's a beautiful and tough goodbye but 'Little Things' will stay on for people who have lived and loved the characters since 2016.
