Kathmandu Connection 2 review

Kathmandu Connection

Story:

The first season revolved around the 1993 Mumbai Blast, while Kathmandu Connection Season 2 is said to be set around the 1999 IC-814 hijack incident and events taking place around it.

Review:

The first episode of the second instalment begins with a recap of the first season and reminds us which characters were most influential in it. Kathmandu Connection Season 2 begins with Aksha Pardasany's Shivani Bhatnagar getting a phone call from a man who wants to share a piece of crucial information that could be related to a national threat. At first, she doesn't take him seriously; however, while listening to his message on the landline phone, she witnesses that he was killed while recording this message and then understands the depth of the information.

As a dedicated investigative journalist, Shivani leaves her home to get into the roots of the whole fiasco, which may be the reason for India's destruction. She departs for Kathmandu after getting the leads on the hijacking of the IS-814 that is set to take place to create a ruckus at the forthcoming Indo-Pak peace summit in Nepal.

Anshuman Pushkar's Sunny Sharma, who landed in prison after surrendering himself in the last season, helps the love of his life, Shivani, meet the right people in Kathmandu.

Along with Shivani, a lot of characters in the show are seen on multiple investigations to curb this known but very dangerous upcoming incident, such as Harleen Sethi as an intelligence officer named Tasneem, Anurag Arora as officer Shravan Mishra, and Amit Sial's Samarth Kaushik, who is an ex-DCP and now a secret agent for the Intelligence Bureau.

The plot of the show is clear in the first episode itself; however, multiple incidents taking place at different places at the same time might confuse the audience a little.

Not only India and Nepal, but an important part of the show also takes place in Dubai and showcases how Prashanth Narayan's Wajid (which is said to be inspired by Dawood Ibrahim) plans the hijacking and a few more incidents to stop the Indo-Pak peace summit that is set to happen.

However, as an audience, it becomes a little taxing to keep track of everything that is happening as multiple parallel incidents take place at one time.

The show still manages to keep the audience's attention only due to some of the watch-worthy acts by a lot of characters.

Prashanth Narayan, Harleen Sethi, and Anurag Arora give good performances, while Aksha Pardasany, Anshuman Pushkar, and Amit Sial's acts stand out in the bunch.

Pardasany, as an investigative journalist, keeps her focus only on her mission to get as much information as she can. Her promising performance definitely impresses us and makes us expect to see the talented actor in a few more projects.

Even though the screenplay seems a little swingy in the middle, the makers have made sure that the end is thrilling and action-packed.

Verdict:

Kathmandu Connection Season 2 is a one-time watch for the actors' power-packed performances and the thrilling climax. Stream the action-thriller series on SonyLIV.
