Kim Katrall, as the older Sophie, continues with her story of how she met her son’s father.
How I Met Your Father Season 2
Story:
While assisting Jesse in taking photos for his new Tinder profile, Sophie feels a connection with someone unexpected. Sid and Valentina's long-distance relationship is helped by Valentina. Ellen and Charlie are looking for a place to live.
Review:
After a so-so impression created by How I Met Your Father in the first two episodes, things got a little better in the third episode. Titled "The Fixer," the episode is about Sophie (Hilary Duff) turning into a wing-woman for Jesse (Christopher Lowell). She helps him set up a Tinder profile and play a game called "Have you met Ted style," (from How I Met Your Mother), but it's not so catchy, to be honest.
Meanwhile, in other sequences, Valentina (Francia Raisa) helps Sid (Suraj Sharma) spice things up with his fiancée, Hannah (Ashley Reyes), with whom he is in a long-distance relationship. Whereas Charlie (Tom Ainsley), after moving out of Valentina's home after a short live-in relationship, asks Ellen (Tien Tran), Jesse's adoptive sister, to live with him.
Drake & Josh star Josh Peck also makes an appearance as Drew, who turns out to be a prospective date for Sophie. And if you remember the pilot episode vividly (major spoiler alert!), Drew was also a part of it, thus making him one of the potential fathers among the five male characters.
Kimberly McCullough directed the episode written by Dan Levy (not the Canadian star). Both are not associated with the first two episodes. Thus, they brought a fresh take to the cast and made it more relatable compared to the earlier episodes.
This episode, spanning 25 minutes, won't make you die of boredom like the first two episodes. However, the show will make sure to go off-track until the ultimate reveal of who the actual father is in the series. But that's, of course, the sole purpose of the series: to explore each character well enough for people to root for them.
You are in for a surprise to see someone go full monty! And the actor who does it will shock you and leave you in splits instantly.
Verdict:
Slowly and gradually, How I Met Your Father can grow on you. But, of course, you aren't going to stop the comparison with How I Met Your Mother.
