Diljit Dosanjh, who is at his hilarious best, is the star of the movie. Shinda Grewal as his son follows soon after.
Story:
A single father Yanky, played by Diljit Dosanjh, almost gives up his child Honsla (Shinda Grewal) after his wife Sweetie (Shehnaaz Gill) refuses to raise the baby. The two are now in search of someone to replace the void Sweetie left behind. That is when Jasmin (Sonam Bajwa) enters their life but things aren't as simple as they appear, or are they?
Review:
Honsla Rakh is a film that dabbles between comedy and romance with perfection. The movie, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Gill, Sonam Bajwa and Shinda Grewal is dedicated to every actor and their moments. Director Amarjit Singh Saron has made sure to put in perfection in every scene related to the lead actors but unfortunately that is not the case with the supporting actors.
As viewers move on with Honsla Rakh, they will realize that the situation around Diljit is hilarious at the face but something to sympathize with as they get a closer look at the life he has lived. Amarjit has succeeded in entertaining the audiences while showing that very fact. Shinda Grewal, who plays Diljit's son Honsla, is adorable too. All the other characters however end up overacting.
Trying to portray himself as a die-hard romantic, Diljit does an SRK pose but that instead leads to a funny moment. The film incorporates Bollywood songs in various situations for punches too but it barely fails to deliver in the scenes. Diljit also pays a tribute to various Hollywood actors and actresses. Gal Gadot and Scarlett Johansson make a hilarious cameo in the film and it isn't something you would expect to see.
Shehnaaz Gill's entry in the movie is super cool. She enters like a Bollywood heroine. Her romantic moments with Diljit play in flashback and make up for a bit of fun but a whole lot of tantrums.
As you move further, you are sure to realize that the jugaad through which Diljit raises his baby boy alone is too adorable to be ignored. On the other hand, how he switches between jobs and raising the kid is hilarious.
The movie progresses on the lines of Heyy Babyy in more than one place. Despite having grown fond of the baby, Diljit ends up giving up on him, only to realize how much he loves his little kid, Honsla.
Shinda and Shehnaaz's first meeting is too heartfelt. She, as always, brings in a huge surprise. Similarly, Sonam Bajwa's entry is build up so well that it is something to look forward to.
Diljit and Shinda’s moments are something to look forward to. The moments when they go twinning is especially cute. They take it to the level where Shinda wears the graphic of a baby bear while Diljit wears the graphic of a whole bear. The two are friends over parents, to the extent that Shinda calls Sonam 'bhabhi' and later corrects himself calling her 'mummy'.
Diljit's first interaction with Sonam is gross. In fact, his every interaction with her is creepy. The actor is at peak stalker behaviour when it comes to her. Sonam's first interaction with Diljit, on the other hand, is perfect. The two share a hilarious moment in an unconventional manner. Their first romantic moment is too surreal and something that will warm your heart.
The songs are such that they will make you groove without particularly disturbing the storyline. It also has rap playing in the backdrop without affecting the plot. The film is also shot in locations in Vancouver that are too pleasing to the eyes. Director Amarjit Singh Saron has taken special care not only for the location but the natural setup as per the occasion. In a romantic situation, the backdrop of snow or sunset makes for the perfect scene. Meanwhile, the wedding setup is lakeside, which makes for a beautiful romantic setup as well.
The situation gets trickier when Shehnaaz and Sonam's characters Sweetie and Jasmin meet each other. The two end up becoming besties, which complicates the situation further.
Diljit as Yanky is sure to leave you with a smile. The situation gets funnier as time passes by and makes you realize the importance of a family.
One scene featuring Shehnaaz's on-screen husband is too much, especially in terms of make-up. He is tanned brown on purpose which comes as quite unnecessary. Otherwise, however, the film is worth a watch.
Verdict:
Honsla Rakh is extremely beautiful and heartwarming. All the actors are good in their acting and the situation along with the location is quite apt. Thus, the film deserves a watch.
