Comicstaan Season 3

Story:

Comicstaan is back with another season hosted by Abish Mathew for the third time alongside his new co-anchor and internet sensation, Kusha Kapila. Sumukhi Suresh, Zakir Khan, Neeti Palta, and Kenny Sabastian are the four judges this time. Meanwhile, you'll miss Tanmay Bhatt.

Eight new comedians can be seen competing with each other to win the trophy as India's best comedian of 2022. Rahul Subramanian, Sapam Verma, Rohan Joshi, Prashasti Singh, Kannan Gill, Aadar Malik, and Anu Menon can be seen as the mentors this time. Each of them gets one episode to tutor all the contestants.

Review:

"I am a new host and body type Kusha Kapila, and I am the old host with half of my body, Abish Mathew." - This is how the anchors of Comicstaan Season 3 start the show, and you know you've arrived at the right place for laughs.

Apart from plenty of jokes and roasts, I was looking forward to seeing the hosts in action too. Abish is as adorable as he has been in the show, while Kusha is the tadka added, who replaces Urooj Ashfaq this season, and you won't miss the latter.

Each contestant has their uniqueness and style of comedy. Aashish Solanki, Pavitra Shetty, Aman Jotwani, Adesh Nichit, Shreya Priyam, Gurleen Pannu, Natiq Haasan, and Shamik Chakrabarti have been seen competing in eight rounds.

Pavitra can be said to be the most bindaas of all. She cracks multiple jokes that are applaud-worthy, while one of her sex jokes featuring a playboy cracked me up laughing when she ends up saying, "4 am last order."

Aashish is another performer who speaks with heart and talks about his issues, including unemployment, relationships and more. With plenty of compliments and critics, the rising comedian, told by Kenny, has the Akash Gupta problem that he keeps the set so tightly knit that he can't lose his pace even in the middle of the set.

You, as an audience, should also try to enjoy a comedy set even if you are not able to understand it. You try harder to concentrate. However, as I was about to rewind and listen to the joke again, Natiq ended up his set in the middle by saying, "I f**ked this round."

The best thing I find about reality shows is that we can see the truly human side of a participant and also relate to someone we know. While Pavitra reminded me of one of my closest friends, Aashish became one of my favourites.

Shreya Priyam is the most courageous of all. She is the cute girl who likes to crack jokes about shorts, tharki uncles, cleavage, eve teasing and much more.

Gurleen Pannu can be seen as one of the strongest of all, and it shows on the leaderboard throughout the series. Adesh Nichit, Shamik Chakrabarti, and Aman Jotwani will surprise you episode by episode with their new forms and patterns each time, while the latter will end up impressing you the most.

Among many memorable lines, Shamik's pun on the new host will split you in laughter. The line goes, "Kusha Kapila is a 'sensation' and that sensation is called 'pain'."

The two best episodes for me will be the roast and the sketch rounds. Rohan Joshi, being the 'roast expert', mentored the new kids in town and it will show among the participants. Meanwhile, it demonstrates that Zakir, Kenny, Sumukhi, and Neeti can take one or even a hundred jokes aimed at them, despite sitting in the most respectable chairs on the show.

Unsurprisingly, Zakir Khan and Sumukhi Suresh will steal your heart by being two adorable sheriffs, who have their critical reviews on one hand but also the compliments to always keep boosting the contestants.

The last has been kept for the best, although there is no other way to go in a reality show but chronologically. The finale episode is full of surprises and it is indeed packed with laughter. However, the end might surprise you, but maybe not. Who knows? But it will amuse you.

Verdict:

Comicstaan season 3 is a laughter riot, but that's a given because there is no other choice for the creators. Apart from Tanmay Bhatt and Aakash Gupta, you won't miss much and will have a blast streaming it on Amazon Prime Video.
