Jackie Shroff, Bhoomika Meena, and Mayur More's crime thriller series, Chidiya Udd is streaming on Amazon MX Player!
Chidiya Udd Story: Amazon MX Player's latest crime thriller series, Chidiya Udd revolves around Seher (played by Bhoomika Meena), a young woman who finds herself caught in a conflict involving criminals. The Rajasthani woman faces the harsh realities of life in a red-light district in Mumbai. Jackie Shroff as Qadir Bhai plays the role of a villain and his gritty avatar left a mark in the survival crime thriller drama. On the other hand, Kota Factory's Mayur More impressed with his Sattar Bhai role.
Based on Aabid Surti's novel Cages, Chidiya Udd is set in Mumbai's red-light district, Kamathipura. The plot follows Seher (Bhoomika Meena), a young Rajasthani woman from Roopjas village, and her frustrating journey as she faces relentless challenges in an unforgiving environment. The series explores an uncompromising look at the dark side of life in a red-light district in Mumbai.
The series has 8 episodes and the titles are - Runaway Life, Shadows at Play, Hunter and Prey, Tale of Betrayal, Secrets and Chains, Battle to Survive, Memories and Scars, and The Final Showdown.

The series opens with Seher (Bhoomika Meena) almost getting kidnapped in her locality, Roopjas village for illegal sexual activity. However, she saves herself by pushing Dhananjay Rana's father who was forcing her and he is badly injured. This angered Dhananjay and before he caught Seher, her mother sent her to Kamathipura and saved her life. However, little did they know what was awaiting Seher in the city.
Kamathipura is Qadir Bhai's (Jackie Shroff) locality and everyone including the police officers obeys his words. His son, Akram (Sikandar Sher) does the business of auctioning young women, led by his father, Qadir Bhai. His rival is Babu Rao who does the same business and is also close to Qadir. The competition is about who will take Qadir Bhai's chair and become the city's most powerful. Both Akram and Babu Rao bring several young women and two courtesans, Resham Bai (Mita Vashisht) and Habiba Begum buy them by giving them money. Among these two ladies, Resham Bai is the most famous.
The direction of the filmmaker Ravi Jadhav was quite impressive as it literally felt like the story was taking place in front of my eyes. The frustration written all over those women's faces was visible but still, they put smiles on their faces and do their job for money. To be honest, I found the series very interesting even though the topic was very common. At times, it reminded me of Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi and Chidiya Udd explored the same topic in an unique way.
The story turns more deadly when Seher tries to save an underage girl from the harsh realities of the red-light district but ends up getting hurt by a bullet in her right hand. This was the 'calm before the storm.' For Akram and Babu Rao, letting one girl go means a waste of money so they began their journey of finding Seher. In the meantime, Akram's men thought that it was Babu Rao and his men who did the deed to take the girl from them.
Seher was saved by Sattar Bhai (Mayur More), a waiter at a restaurant. After that, she met her childhood friend, Champa who earlier came to Kamathipura to earn money being a prostitute. However, she was kicked out of Habiba Begum's section as she got AIDS. With the help of Champa, Seher got a shelter in Habiba's section but soon, she left because they were torturing her and also Akram and Babu Rao's men were behind her. She even changed her name to Nisha but was still in danger.
Later, with the help of Sattar, Seher went to Resham Bai's place and got to know that Resham is the most influential courtesan and her girls are taken care of. In the meanwhile, Seher and Sattar almost explore a romantic relationship. But, Sattar is killed by Qadir Bhai as the latter realizes that he is helping Seher to escape from them.
Meanwhile, the scene takes us to Dhananjay's house in Roopjas village. He learns that Seher is still alive. Now, along with Akram, Babu Rao, and Qadir Bhai, Dhananjay joined to kill Seher.
The background music while Seher trying to save herself from the harsh realities, deepens the plot. The script writing is also impressive along with the setting of the series.
The series ended on a cliffhanger as Akram was killed by Seher. Qadir Bhai tried to save his son but Seher came in front of him and the two pointed guns at each other faces. The ending also hinted at a possibility of a season 2.
Jackie Shroff as Qadir Bhai was an exception and he once again proved why he is one of a kind. Mayur More as Sattar Bhai left a mark. Seeing him apart from Kota Factory was refreshing. On the other hand, Bhoomika Meena as Seher warmed hearts. Apart from them, Madhur Mittal, Sikander Kher, Mita Vashisht, and others beautifully portrayed their roles.
Chidiya Udd explores the harsh realities of a red-light district in Mumbai. It shows what a woman goes through when she is forced to live as a prostitute for money and how she is used by dirty-minded people. The series does not have any dull moments and keeps you on the edge of your seat till the last moment. While you are hooked on the plot, the performances of Jackie Shroff, Mita Vashisht, Bhoomika Meena, Sikandar Sher, Mayur More, and others leave you impressed.
