Cash movie review: Amol Parashar and Smiriti Kalra’s film is a watch-worthy comedy-drama

Cash

Story:

The Amol Parashar and Smiriti Kalra starrer revolves around the demonetisation and the following events. The story follows a man with a start-up that's into money laundering. It lands him and his team in big trouble. Cash also features Gulshan Grover as the antagonist and Kavin Dave in a pivotal role with Swanand Kirkire, Anand Alkunte and Krishna Singh Bisht as supporting characters.

Review:

Amol’s Armaan Gulati is an entrepreneur by heart but fails miserably with his ideas every single time. The situational comedy film that is based on the 2016 demonetisation fiasco, revolves around three partners in crime and their paths that at last lead them to success but not like they imagined it.

Smiriti’s Neha is a fun-loving as well as a sharp and witty young woman, who mostly thinks about her benefit in every situation.

Demonetisation which in reality showed a barrage of black money in India also led to a huge deal of money laundering in the country. After loads of unsuccessful businesses, the lead actor turns to illegal money laundering. While his tricks worked for a small sum, it’s the actress who made the huge amount of black money converted into white.

Kavin’s Soda is another important character in the film who completes the team and adds his adorable charm to the movie and makes it funnier.

Krishna Singh Bisht’s character Qazi Bhai is the most quirky character, who has gathered a good amount of laughs due to his actions. Anand Alkunte’s dabbawala-turned-police officer is another unusual character, who is obsessed with nabbing people who possess black money and wants to complete his target of confiscating 100 crores worth of illegal cash.

While the stars like Amol, Smiriti and Grover have performed well, it’s the supporting actors including Dave, Bisht, Alkunte who made the film a watch-worthy humorous drama with their actions and funny sequences.

The storyline could use some more sharpness, however, the dialogues are effortlessly funny and give you some good laughs.

Verdict:

Vishesh Bhatt’s Va Va Voom productions is indeed has begun on a good note. Rishab Seth’s helmed comedy-drama movie oughts to be watched once for some fresh content and a good laugh.
