Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana Story

Bhaskar Narayana (Shiva Kandukuri) has only one aim in his life and that is to become a popular detective. A series of killings happen in his town and the special aspect is that the killer leaves unique dolls at the murder site. Bhaskar takes the case in his hands and tries hard to investigate it. As he digs deep into the investigation, he comes to know that the killings have a connection to his life. What is that connection? Who is the serial killer? And how did Bhaskar solve the mystery? To know the answers, watch the film on the big screen.

Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana Review

The basic backdrop of Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana is pretty decent, as the murder mystery has a mythology connection and is written well. How the murders are linked to this aspect of the main lead's life has been showcased in a very gripping manner in the latter half of the film.

Director Purushottam has done a decent job with his narration but his execution could have been a lot better in the first half. The scenes showcased are a bit dull and the comedy-infused sound is dull and over-the-top in many instances. The screenplay is also a bit dull during this time and one gets a feeling that the makers are adding things just to spice up the tension.

Yet another disadvantage of the film is that it takes a lot of time to get to its proper conflict point. Regular scenes of serial killing and how a small-time detective gets involved in the case have been showcased in so many films to date. But once the twist is revealed that the hero has a connection with the killing and there is some external force behind all this, the tension in the plot builds up and the film makes for a breezy watch.

The makers have done well to keep the thrills in place and the racy narration in the second half makes all the difference. There should have been more scenes to showcase why the crimes were committed in the first place. It is not hard to guess who the killer is but the drama that builds up to these scenes is not that great.

The inexperience of the director is shown in many scenes, especially the ones where he highlights the heroine's character. A few of the characters in the film do not have a proper arc. Had he built the tempo right from the beginning, the film would have been very different. Things pick up only in the latter part but once they do, the film is quite thrilling.

Coming to performances, Shiva Kandukuri leads from the front and he does his role in a very convincing manner. With each film of his, Shiva is getting better and showcases his talent in all scenes related to his track in the second part. Shiva has worked hard on his diction, and body language and is more at peace in front of the screen these days. The calmness is seen in his performance in Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana.

Rashmi Singh impresses as the female lead. Though her screen presence is only a little the young actors hold your attention. Sricharan Pakala has composed the music and his BGM is quite impressive. Especially the score during the pre-climax and climax takes the film to another level. The production design of the film is pretty impressive as the visuals and set work are used to give an authentic feeling.

The camerawork in the film needs special attention as the audience gets to see the film in a unique tone. The screenplay is dull in the first half but is crisp in the second half. Director Purushottam had a unique storyline and managed to succeed on a decent note. Had he handled the first half on a better and sensible note, the output would have been a lot better. Nevertheless, the film has decent moments that catch your eye.

Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana Verdict

On the whole, Bhoothaddam Bhaskar Narayana has a great premise and a very gripping second half. Shiva Kandukuri is impressive in his act but the film starts on a dull note. If you sit through the initial half an hour, the film has enough thrills and twists that will keep you invested.
