Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Story

Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is the third installment of the horror comedy franchise. The story follows the life of Kartik Aaryan's Ruhan Randhawa, aka Rooh Baba, in Kolkata. He is joined on a spooky adventure to Rakht Ghat by Arun Kushwah. Upon reaching Rakht Ghat, Rooh Baba is tasked to ward off the evil spirit of Manjulika from a palace.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Review

The third installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa starts on a thrilling note with Manjulika's (with a mask on) spooky entry. Twenty decades later (in the present day), Rooh Baba and his mate continue to fool people into believing that he can talk to spirits and ward off them from the ones possessed. However, he fails to trick Triptii Dimri's Meera into his trap. Meera and her uncle (Rajesh Mishra) plan to burst Rooh Baba's fake business on social media if he doesn't agree to visit Rakht Ghat with them.

Once Rooh Baba reaches Rakht Ghat with Meera and her uncle, he is taken to a palace where Manjulika's evil spirit resides. He soon learns that he is the reincarnation of Rajkumar Debendranath. Rajpurohit (Manish Wadhwa) narrates the story of Manjulika killing (half-brother) Rajkumar Debendranath after he gets the throne of their father. As a punishment, their father orders Manjulika to be burnt alive in the palace.

And now, it's only Rooh Baba (reincarnation of Rajkumar Debendranath) who can ward off Manjulika's evil spirit. The interesting twist in the tale comes with the introduction of Madhuri Dixit's character in the storyline. Thus begins the real 'bhool bhulaiyaa' of Anees Bazmee's horror comedy.

While the introductory scene of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 sets the bar high, the film falls flat in bits and pieces in the first half. The mystery and history of Rakht Ghat evoke curiosity but there are no major spooky moments that are expected to leave you startled. The comical elements save the first half and make it watchable. In fact, the romantic song featuring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri comes out of the blue and seems forced. The presence of this track doesn't make any difference in the plot.

But the thrilling and hilarious second half entirely covers up for the few flaws of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3's first half. The dance-off between Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit on Ami Je Tomar 3.0 is a visual treat. Shreya Ghoshal's vocals add a majestic touch to it. There's never a dull moment when the beauties Vidya and Madhuri are on the screen. The moment you feel the story would become predictable, the makers throw major curve balls and hit it out of the park. The climax of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 brings an adrenaline rush with unexpected twists and turns.

Speaking of the performances, Kartik Aaryan is phenomenal in the film. He ate and left no crumbs in this horror comedy. Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit have pulled off spellbinding performances. The actresses have shouldered the responsibility well to keep the film engaging till its very end. Triptii Dimri as Meera has just done a decent job.

As for Sanjay Mishra (Bade Pandit), Rajpal Yadav (Chhota Pandit), and Ashwini Kalsekar (Panditayeen), they bring much-needed comic relief to the film. Their comic timing is on point. It's their collective effort, as a supporting cast, that makes Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 a wholesome viewing experience. The scenes are well-crafted by filmmaker Anees Bazmee and cinematographer Manu Anand. Full marks to be given to writer Aakash Kaushik for his engaging storytelling.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Final Verdict:

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 serves as the perfect blend of horror and comedy. Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit Nene are the terrific trio in Anees Bazmee's captivating film. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a Diwali bonanza you shouldn't miss!
